Our Club

Unicorn Badminton Club is a small, friendly club of league and club players, students, junior players and coaches.

We really welcome visitors so please do come and try us out - the club is a great night out whether you are an experienced player, someone who played a long while back and is now interested in returning to badminton, or someone wanting to progress your play on from casual to a bit more competitive. We particularly welcome younger players (juniors and students) to help you enjoy and develop your game, and to gain an introduction to a lifetime of healthy, enjoyable sport.

We play on Friday nights:

      Juniors (Primary: Years 4-6) from 5:pm to 6pm September to May

      Juniors (Secondary: Years 7-11) from 6pm to 7:15pm September to May

      Adults and Students from 7:15pm to 9:15pm September to April

We also play our home matches on Tuesday nights from 7:00pm to 9:30pm. Depending on our match programme, some courts may be available on Tuesdays for club members to play and have coaching.

Season dates for 2019-20

      Friday 6th September to Friday 13th December inclusive.

      No badminton Friday 20th and 27th December, and Friday 3rd January
        (College and Sports Hall closed).

      Friday 10th January to Friday 3rd April inclusive and Friday 17th and Friday
        24th April.

      No badminton Friday 10th April (College and Sports Hall closed).

      Juniors only: Friday 1st May to Friday 22nd May inclusive.

Our home venue is the sports hall (the 'Sycamore Building') at Richard Huish College.

How much does it cost to play?

As a visitor/occasional player or club member, as little as £5 a night (adults) or £3 (students and older juniors) or £1 (younger juniors).

If you play as a visitor more than 6 times in the season, you also need to join as a club member for the year; this costs £25 (adults) or £15 (students and juniors) and includes membership of Badminton England ...... which gives you various benefits and insurance covers - click here for more details.
